It seems that I fell back on one of the main tropes of this assignment – using a manhole cover to activate the empty street.

a portrait session
Now that our girl can handle a camera on her own, we had a little portrait session this evening.
Most of it ended up around the knees:
I really like how this one came out.
-
independent study (otp126)
The baby had learned to activate the shutter previously, but this day she actually figured out how to point the camera in the correct direction (even though she has no use for the optical viewfinder). So this became the independent study, trying to do a self portrait with her clicking the shutter.
Proof that she knows how to point the thing – first a shot of the ground and then the bunny.

still life (otp125)
This turned out to be much more difficult than I imagined!
Interestingly the shot I preferred when I uploaded to g+ was this wider angle shot.
Here’s the image, before the bear fell over.
And far away with the north light bedroom window and messy room in the frame.
-
transportation (otp127)
As I do occasionally, I tried the assignment approach of letting the baby do the shooting, while I’m more of the director / editor. This time with her toy car she used to call beebeegoogoo.
-
shadows (otp108)
I’m never particularly good at figuring out what image will be well liked in the OTP g+ site, but this one went over really well.
In that vein, I just recropped another image from that assignment super tight which is a vast improvement over the previous one which was lacking in focus.
And also some nice shadows from late at night.
-
golden hour (otp107)
I first came across the concept as an issue for architectural photography and capturing both shaded and sky with balanced light, in the days before HDR was an easy thing.
But I think this reflection shot is a much more interesting use of that dynamic instead of the straight patio shot.

Another shot from the South Premium outlet mall visit in March.
-
leading lines (otp103)
I don’t think this is exactly the prime intention of the assignment, but the OTP crew is pretty loose with the words anyways. This first one came while wandering around Durango High after the Nevada Democratic Caucus, and the second was an ominous flash of light in the bathroom.
