  • He wasn’t serious until time ran out.

    Grandma had enough.
    She gave him a deadline.
    He dithered.

Toys were exiled to the garage.
    Wailing and crying.

    The playroom is clean.

    ䷚䷜

    spying about with sharp eyes
like a tiger with insatiable craving

  • The delicate line between prosaic and disaster is normally imperceptible.

An adult placed dumbells on the half wall.
    Both of them rolled off.

The boy was on the other side of the wall.
    Watching me work.

    I grabbed his arm.
    And gave him a hug.

    limitation. success.

  • Winning rarely looks like victory.

    Weekend didn’t go as planned.

The girl didn’t finish her homework.
So they didn’t open my birthday presents.

Listening to self help podcasts sapped my joy.
    (A bad habit)

But I culled my podcasts and newsletters,

(only saved info at least 20 years old or will be relevant 20 years hence)

Finished work ahead of a deadline.

    Cleaned up a little.

    Went hiking.
    Watched burros.

before the starting point three days
after the starting point three days

  • The cat drank milk on a seventy-five inch television in slow motion.

He lapped up the yogurt from his bowl.

    Are you a dog?

    Arf!

    ䷠䷍

in what is small, perseverance furthers

  • Eating healthy can be funny and dangerous.

The adults were speaking in dialect.

We made funny faces at each other.

At least I didn’t stick a finger in my nose.
And he didn’t choke on the veggies.

    ䷩䷪

    mighty in the forward-striding toes
when one goes and is not equal to the task
    one makes a mistake

  • After Completion comes before Before Completion.

    Another year,
    Life the Universe and Everything.

    Four quixotic pursuits –
    I Jing, Blogging, Investments, CCG’s.

Already quit one and need to wrap up another,
At diminishing returns on marginal utility.
The 80-20 rule (one was a pure zero from the beginning).

Next year: exercise, excursions, estate planning, and exclusion of noise?
    What unforeseen projects shall emerge?
    What do the coins say?

One last throw, until next year.
    Tommorrow.

    ䷵䷧

    understand the transitory
in the light of the eternity of the end

  • The little one is devious.

    The watering can is dirty.
    Not it’s not.

    Needs to be washed.
    It’s just a watering can!

    He turned on the hosebibb.

    OK. I’ll rinse it off.
    The inside is dirty too.
    Fine.

    He watered the wildflowers.

    It needs another washing!

    ䷢䷃

    progress like a hamster

  • Growing up ain’t as advertised, occasionally it’s better.

    Giving is better than recieving.
    Let’s do both!

A few books and a boardgame for my birthday.

Even better – I wrapped them.
    (plus an old boardgame,

with two everything must be even).

    For them to unwrap.

    The real treat!

    ䷜䷁

the abyss is not filled to overflowing
it is only filled to the rim

  • A family is a fractal of overlapping sub-families.

Daddy-Bear slipped onto the desk to audit my teleconference with the engineers.

He studied options for the mechanical system life cycle cost analysis.

After lunch, he snuck onto my shoulder.

I held still while my daughter shot a portrait.

A long day for a brown bear in a blue hoodie.

    ䷿䷢

the little fox after nearly competing the crossing
gets his tail in the water

  • In a blink the seasons are gone and back again.

We drew a labryinth on the patio.
    I walked it.

    Breathe in, four steps.
    Breathe out, four steps.

    The boy jumped in front.
    And stopped.

    Breathe in.
    Breathe out.

    He hopped away.

    Breathe in, four steps.
    Breathe out, four steps.

    A split second.
    Our lives.
