I enjoyed his series of very flat architectural photos.

He’s got the most interesting analysis of whats going on in Iran. I don’t remember who recommended him, but he seems to have a much better feel for the dynamics of revolution then any of the talking heads out there.

Could Obama Be Another Gipper? by Mark Shields on Creators.com – A Syndicate Of Talent
Interesting thoughts on the likability of Obama being a major political asset, especially as he is going through some serious fights these first days in office — worth reading for the quote at the end of the second paragraph.
The change in that mood is almost magical: In late October in the Journal-NBC poll, 12 percent of respondents believed things in the nation were “generally headed in the right direction,” while some 78 percent judged things were “off on the wrong track.” In the latest poll, completed on March 1 after four moths of worsening economic numbers, 41 percent of us now see things “headed in the right direction,” as opposed to 44 percent answering “off on the wrong track.”
What we do not yet know is whether Barack Obama is blessed with Ronald Reagan’s famous Teflon coating, which enabled him somehow to deflect blame for bad times or policy. Of the Gipper, political philosopher Dan Buck once noted: “If Ronald Reagan drove a convertible with the top down through a car wash, Jimmy Carter would get wet.”
What we do know is that voters today — just as they did with Reagan — like Obama more than they do his policies. And that’s good news for Democrats.

Sketchy… | Joe McNally’s Blog
This post on Joe McNally’s blog is a lot of fun to read. He gives 3 shots and explains how he lights them up along with the napkin sketches he did to set do the schematic design.

Pankun & James
This Japanese show is super cute, with Pankun and James – a chimp and his dog – doing human things. There are Chinese dubs (both from Taiwan and Hong Kong) and one with udon was a lot of fun even even though James, the dog, doesn’t play a role in that one. Another one with both of them doing sit ups was also quite amusing.

15 Visions of Retro-Future Space Flight | WebUrbanist
A fun post of all kinds of different views of the future of space. I really miss the old graphics — but maybe that’s because we get the past in a very condensed form (only the memorable graphics get repeated) whereas the present is very banal since we get it ALL.

Art Deco Buildings: Montreux Flats, Cape Town
Art Deco Buildings: Montreux Flats, Cape Town.
I really liked the ones shown on this blog posting. Stairs and railing design can get really annoy cause they are the one point where things are all visible and you’ve got all these angles running into each other. This view from the hallway was particularly compelling – the stairwell views are not as great.

what a cool way to show images!
This would be a little less relevant if I didn’t have a bunch of 4×6 paper that came with my latest set of ink (they bundled it with the colored ink but it was still cheaper than buying the cartridges individually). But with a bunch of Dr. Pepper bottles, this will be useful =)
And check out Photojojo for other cool ideas for displaying pictures.
